Hi,
what is the max risk when opening a position in forex?
(I know about margin and stop loss, but in the worst case they have no meaning)
I use the formula
profit = volume x direction x (close - open)
where direction is 1 for long and -1 for short positions.
This means when I go long in EURUSD for a price of 1.06 with 0.1 LOT and the exchange rate goes down to 0 my loss is:
profit = 0.1 LOT x 1 x (0 - 1.06) $ = -10.600 $
Is the correct? And is this the worst case that can happen?
If I do the same for a short position, I have the problem that the exchange rate may go up to any value. Or is there a upper limit?
I already heard for stock a short position has a higher risk than long positions. Is it the same in forex?
Thanks!
